I was thrilled when Kate and Rob contacted me to photograph their wedding in Threave Gardens. My first wedding at Threave had been a magical day and I'd been looking forward to returning ever since.
When returning to a familiar venue - the challenge is to photograph the day in a unique way that really sets it apart, and I'm really pleased this was just the case for Kate and Rob. Threave Gardens looked dazzling with an amazing combination (thanks to the unseasonal start to the year) of azaleas, daffodils, and bluebells.
And all day long - not a cloud in the sky! I spent the morning with Kate and her family at the Old Exchange, a gorgeous property just on the edge of Threave Estate, photographing the wedding preparations with Emma Kennedy-Nichol, followed by make-up by Bríeghd from Blusha. Then I headed to Threave Gardens and spent the afternoon searching out the best light, and some gorgeous hidden corners of Threave.
A awe inspiring location, and a great couple to share the day with. Here's my selected highlights from the day - congratulations Kate and Rob.
The gardens at Threave are a stunning wedding setting, and on a day like this provided the perfect setting for outdoor Threave Gardens wedding photography.
I was lucky enough to be able to take Kate and Rob away from their guests during the evening, as the sun was setting on a perfect day, and finish with some wedding portraits in the soft evening light, with the gardens entirely to ourselves.
